A sinkhole has appeared on a Troon street close to The Open.

The hole appeared on Bentinck Drive, close to Troon Tennis Courts. It is thought to be close to the site of a similar sinkhole that was identified back in May.

Council officials and police have been spotted keeping the public away from the area, which is just a few hundred metres from the fringes of Royal Troon, where The Open is taking place.

Scottish Water attempted to fix the issue late last month by carrying out a patch-line repair on the previous hole.

However, the ground below the road is thought to be in poor condition, making a permanent fix difficult.
