Plans have been unveiled to turn a disused golf clubhouse into a community space in Maybole.
Maybole Golf Club announced its shock closure last year due to a fall in membership numbers.
The North Carrick Community Benefit Company has now applied to South Ayrshire Council for a partial change of use of the existing golf pavilion.
It would provide new facilities for NCCBC, including a meeting and activity space and office, alongside the existing greenkeepers facility.
The application also includes the prevision of a container for the storage of community owned e-bikes for tourists, visitors and local hire.
Planning documents state: "The clubhouse at Maybole Golf course was formerly used exclusively as support to the golf course providing facilities for players and green-keeping staff.
"With the demise of the Maybole Golf Club the use of the clubhouse has become minimal.
"In order to ensure a future for the much loved pavilion and to provide small scale community use this proposal suggests the clubhouse adapts to become a multi purpose community facility alongside the greenkeeper's use.
"The proposal is therefore for a range of functions to be based in the existing building: a greenkeeper’s base, multi purpose meeting area, meeting room, flexible work space for NCCBC, and storage for community-owned e-bikes.
"The building itself will not undergo any alterations with the main spaces being retained. New toilets and kitchen had already been fitted as refreshed ancillary facilities. The interior has been redecorated recently and new carpets fitted.
"Full mobility access is provided via a ramp to the front of the building. This leads to the entrance doors under the cover of the projecting porch roof.
"The proposal is a simple low key change of use of an existing building, giving it a new lease of life.
"There will be partial use for leisure purposes, in the support to the golf course, and the provision for the e- bikes for tourist and community, coupled with the addition of the community facilities and space for NCCBC."
