DRIVERS in South Ayrshire are being warned of an eight-week road closure for Scottish Water works.
The work on Townend Road in Symington will begin on Monday, July 22 and will last approximately eight weeks.
The utility company is upgrading pipework in the area to improve water quality for local residents.
From that day, temporary traffic restrictions will be in place on Townend Road for two weeks, with four-way traffic lights to be installed on its junctions.
From Monday, August 5 until Friday, September 6, Townhead Road will be closed between Corraith Road and the roundabout with Townhead Terrace/Townhead Brae. Local diversion signage will be in place along the B730.
From Monday. September 9, Townend Road will reopen and will instead be controlled by four-way temporary traffic lights at the roundabout with Townhead Terrace/Townhead Brae.
There will be further traffic management on Townend Road at the Rumbling Burn, controlled by two-way lights, from September 9.
Scottish Water says it is taking steps to ensure any noise disruption is kept to a minimum and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
Work is being carried out by Scottish Water’s contractor, Clancy Docwra.
