South Ayrshire has been revealed as the local authority with the highest pass ratings for its food hygiene inspections in Scotland. 

A report from online training provider High Speed Training has revealed the best and worst places in Scotland for food hygiene pass rates.

The top spot in Scotland went to South Ayrshire, with an impressive pass rate of 99.81 per cent from over 500 premises.

South Ayrshire also held the top spot in the 2022 and 2023 report.

The report showed that the lowest pass rate in Scotland went to Shetland, with a pass rate of 74.471 per cent, a fall of 2.74 per cent from 2022.

On average, local authorities across the country improved their pass rate by an average of 0.3 per cent, and more than a third of local authorities (14 out of 32) secured a pass rate of 95 per cent or higher.
