Plans to make changes to an Ayr restaurant that has been closed for the past two years have been given the green light.
A planning application was submitted to South Ayrshire Council back in May for alterations and extensions to The Waterfront on South Harbour Street.
The restaurant closed its doors in July 2022, with the owners saying at the time that hardships "over the past couple of years" lay behind their decision to shut up shop after ten years.
The premises, which cover 3,145 square feet, were being marketed for sale or lease by Shepherd Chartered Surveyors.
PWR Developments Scotland Ltd revealed plans to make changes to the building, including creating new level access doors and creating a new roof over the existing service area.
The changes have now been approved by council officials, with a condition that work must take place within three years.
Planning documents state: "The siting and design of the development hereby approved is considered to accord with the provisions of the development plan and there is no significant adverse impact on the amenity of neighbouring land and buildings."
Under its previous ownership, the business won the 'Gastro Pub of the Year' prize in the 2017 Food Awards Scotland and was named best licensed premises in the Ayrshire Retail Business Awards in the same year.
