A MAN has appeared in court charged with murder after the death of a 22-year-old man in Troon.

James Thomson appeared from custody in connection with the death of a man in the town's Ramsay Court and Scott Crescent area on July 6. 

The 34-year-old entered no plea to the murder charge when he appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, July 8.

Mr Thomson, whose general address was listed as East Ayrshire, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

He is due to face court for a further full committal hearing in eight days.  

We previously reported that a man had been found seriously injured in the town's Ramsay Court and Scott Crescent at 11.40pm on July 6.

Emergency services attended and a 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police Scotland confirmed a 34-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the death, and enquiries are ongoing.

All accused persons reported in the Ayr Advertiser are considered innocent unless they are later found or admit to being guilty.
