An energetic charity champion is set to run seven marathons in seven days in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice.

Kieran McLaughlin will run from his home in Dundonald to the charity's home on Racecourse Road in Ayr and back on the first six days.

On the final day, Kieran will start and finish at Racecourse Road to round off his week of fundraising.

Kieran is running in memory of his dad, John.

Over the last four years, he has raised more than £50,000 for the charity.

He explained: "As most of you know, my family have been fundraising incredibly hard for the past four years for the Ayrshire Hospice on behalf of my dad, John McLaughlin.

"There have been many different fundraisers, from sponsored walks and marathons, to bingo nights, to Christmas fairs, all of which have now unbelievably raised over £50,000!

"That amount couldn’t be achieved without our tireless friends and family who just keep on putting an enormous effort in. Just incredible, Thank you.

"I can’t begin to express my gratitude to everyone who has made an effort, or donated to those who have organised each fundraiser. So thank you again to everyone involved, it is truly amazing the amount of good that’s come through deep heartache."

The Ayrshire Hospice provides outstanding quality care and services which helps those with any life-limiting illness including cancer.

Kieran added: "The Ayrshire Hospice really was everything in our time of need.

"I sometimes struggle to accept a lot of things that went on during that time, but one thing for sure is that my dad and us as a family wouldn’t have got the little time close together again if it wasn’t for the Ayrshire Hospice."

A hospice spokesperson said: "If you see Kieran running give him a wave or shout of encouragement. Good Luck and thank you for your support!"
