Emergency services are on the scene of a fire at a derelict warehouse in Ayr. 

Fire crews were called to York Street just after 7am on Tuesday, July 2, with seven appliances used to tackle the blaze. 

No injuries have been reported, and crews remain on scene to make the area safe.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.13am on Tuesday, July 2 to reports of a fire at a derelict warehouse on York Street, Ayr.

“Operations Control mobilised six appliances and a specialist height appliance to the scene. No injuries have been reported.

“Two appliances remain in attendance and firefighters are currently working to make the area safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a fire at buildings on York Street in Ayr around 7.35am on Tuesday, July 2.

“No one has been injured and emergency service remain at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage.”
