South Ayrshire Police are launching their Summer Action Plan to encourage people to be safe over the summer months.

Officers are working with local partner agencies, including South Ayrshire Council, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, Coastguard, Scottish Ambulance Service and British Transport Police.

Police say that any disorder in the region will be dealt with, and have reiterated the dangers of drinking alcohol around water.

Chief Inspector Kevin Lammie said: “The number of visitors to the area increases over the summer months, with beauty spots, beaches, and parks all seeing more activity, we want to ensure the public enjoy our places responsibly.

“Anti-social behaviour is not acceptable, and I would urge everyone to be respectful to each other. Any disorder will be dealt with appropriately. Police Officers and Partners will be out and about on patrol.

“Please be aware of the dangers of drinking alcohol, particularly in the heat and around water.

“We also ask parents and guardians to speak to young people and encourage them to be mindful of others and look out for each other.

“In addition, more visitors means more traffic and I would encourage all road users to be aware, to park responsibly and to avoid blocking access.

“Anyone with concerns can speak to any police officer or report an incident via 101. If it is an emergency dial 999.”
