Plans have been lodged to revamp a busy Troon petrol station.

The owners of the Morrisons facility on Dukes Road have lodged a planning application to expand and increase its offering to customers.

The site's owners Motor Fuel Group (MFG) are looking for permission from South Ayrshire Council to demolish the existing car wash, extend the existing sales building and create an electric vehicle charging zone.

They are also looking to install new jet wash bays and a canopy, as well as construct a sub-station with LV panel, meter cabinet, plant room and associated works.

Agents Carney Sweeney said: "The proposals relate to the removal of an existing car wash and the provision of four electric vehicle charging points, eight electric vehicle charging bays, canopy, substation enclosure, LV panel, meter cabinet, four jet wash bays, plant room, three parking bays and associated works.

“MFG’s proposal to install new EV charging points at the Morrisons site should be considered positively in light of the national context and the demand for the necessary infrastructure to support electric vehicle use across the UK.

“The proposals would contribute positively to the existing EV charging network, to the benefit of those utilising the strategic highway network surrounding the application site. The proposals will enhance the existing offer at the site, without compromising the efficient operation of the facility.”

The plans are currently being considered by South Ayrshire Council, with a decision expected in the coming months.
