Works are continuing at pace on two major housing developments in Ayr.

The local authority has confirmed that works are on progress at the Mainholm housing development and on the site of the town's old high flats.

A total of 160 new affordable homes are being built on the site of the former Mainholm Academy site, with a mix of one, two, three, four, five and six bedroom properties.

The new homes will be available to rent, will be energy efficient, and some will be modified to ensure they have full wheelchair access.

A council spokesperson said: "Works are on progress at the Mainholm housing development in Ayr. Kits are being installed at the remaining plots and drainage works are continuing."
