A MAJOR Ayr road was closed for almost seven hours following a three-vehicle crash.
Police Scotland reported the closure of the A77 following the incident at the Bankfield roundabout, near University Hospital Ayr.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision, which took place at around 4.40pm on Wednesday, June 26.
The road was shut between the Holmston and Bankfield roundabouts, with vehicles diverted via Holmston Road, Castlehill Road and Dalmellington Road in both directions.

Traffic Scotland advised that the road eventually reopened just after midnight.
