An Ayrshire hotel and resort is inviting the community to share stories about the iconic Turnberry Lighthouse.

Trump Turnberry is set to celebrate the iconic lighthouse's 151st anniversary this August and is asking people to share personal anecdotes and memories about the lighthouse, which has been central to the region's rich history.

Individuals can submit as many stories as they like and these must be submitted by August 30 to tby_marketing@trumpturnberry.com.

The lighthouse's foundations originate from the moat of Turnberry Castle, believed to have been the birthplace of Robert the Bruce in 1274.

The Turnberry Lighthouse first shone its guiding light across the waters on August 30, 1878, flashing every 12 seconds.

It was manned for the first 108 years of its life, before being automated in 1986.

Since the summer of 2016, it has also accommodated what it now describes as "the world's best halfway house".

The collection of anecdotes, photos, and personal reflections will become a valuable resource for understanding the lighthouse's history.

Stories will be featured on social media, local press, and a special commemorative book to mark this historic milestone.

The book will be housed in the Turnberry Lighthouse for visitors to enjoy.
