A MAN has died after choking on his meal at an Ayr bar and restaurant, it is understood.
Police Scotland confirmed that the man had passed away after they were called to assist with the matter at Willie Wastle's Sports Bar and Restaurant.
The incident took place in the afternoon of Monday, June 17, with the 41-year-old male taken to Ayr Hospital after emergency crews attended.
He was later pronounced dead at the South Ayrshire hospital.
Police say that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.05pm on Monday, 17 June, 2024, we were called to New Bridge Street, Ayr to assist another emergency service.
“A 41-year-old man was taken to Ayr Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
