Proposals have been lodged to demolish a building which forms part of the Trump Turnberry resort complex and has been described as "a liability".

The Den sits on Little Turnberry farm in Maidens, and is described in documents lodged with South Ayrshire Council as having "outlived its useful life" and being "unsuitable for modern living".

The farm itself, located on Shanter Road in Maidens,  is used as part of the Trump Turnberry resort's provision of outdoor activities, including horse riding.

A supporting statement, submitted to South Ayrshire Council by agents Mhairi Shaw Planning alongside the formal application, states: "The building proposed for demolition now represents a liability to the owners in as much as it has no productive use and is in poor repair, with no prospect of being brought back into productive use due to the nature of its construction and condition.

"The building also has a negative visual impact on the farm and its environs.

"At present Trump Turnberry is exploring the potential for upgrading of facilities in and around Little Turnberry farm, and the Den building is regarded as a blight on the farm environs.

"Maintenance of the building is no longer viable given its inability to be brought back into a productive use.

"In addition the architectural style and character of the building detracts from the overall setting of Little Turnberry."

The full application to demolish the building can be found on the South Ayrshire Council planning portal at publicaccess.south-ayrshire.gov.uk, searching for the application code 24/00412/PNF.
