Topics covered included how to structure a talk, using body language effectively, and refining your message for successful communication.

Aimed at fostering effective public speaking within the community, the club has been a firm fixture of life in Prestwick since 1973.

Elaine Harrigan, head teacher of Prestwick Academy, said: "As a school we are delighted to work with Prestwick Speechmasters.

"Young people have had the opportunity to further develop their skills and knowledge in relation to public speaking.

"This has been a great experience and those taking part have been able to expand transferrable skills that can be used both in and out of the classroom.

"We look forward to working with Prestwick Speechmasters as we continue into next session."

Plans are under way for the club to conduct more community outreach programmes, including additional school collaborations and an open day in October.
