A popular community pub and hub in South Ayrshire is set for a facelift.

Plans have been lodged with South Ayrshire Council to re-paint and install a flue at the King's Arms in Ballantrae.

The Ballantrae Trust purchased the King’s Arms for the community in September 2020 at the height of the pandemic to transform the last pub in the village into The King’s Arms Community Pub and Hub.

While the trust owns the building, the pub and hub is operated by Ballantrae Community Pub Ltd.

The trust has now applied to re-paint the exterior in the historical colours of white walls and black door and window surrounds.

It also wants retrospective permission for a flue installed to serve a new biomass boiler in a store cupboard to the south of the property adjoining the car park.

A planning application for the works is necessary due to the building falling within the 'Ballantrae I' conservation area.

The full application can be found on South Ayrshire Council's planning portal at publicaccess.south-ayrshire.gov.uk, searching for the reference code 24/00352/APP.
