An Ayr dance school is hosting a special Taylor Swift fundraiser to support a local veteran's cancer battle.

Michael Lynaghan, who served abroad with the Parachute Regiment, was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2021 at the age of 41.

He was told he had just weeks to live, but was put on a daily chemotherapy tablet called Abisaterone, which helped to manage the condition.

However, with its effectiveness set to end within the next year, Michael's family has now launched a fundraiser to raise £130,000 for pioneering treatment which could give him a further five years to live.

Wife Cara, who married Michael eight years ago, says it is the only hope of giving her husband more time to make memories with their daughters Murrin, 6, and Willow, 5.

LJM Dance School, based in Ayr, now hopes to support the cause through its Totally Taylor charity fundraiser.

The event at Prestwick Academy will see participants sing, dance and shake it off with the phenomenal Totally Taylor whilst raising money for a member of the LJM Dance family.

A spokesperson said: "We want to raise as much money as possible for Michael and his family. So don't miss out on this opportunity to have a blast while also changing a family's life!"

Tickets for the event on Sunday, June 2 cost either £33 or £17, and can be purchased on EventBrite.
