An Ayrshire homebuilder announced the opening of two new trainee sales adviser roles and its plan to recruit from the area.

Persimmon West Scotland managing director Chris Logan made the announcement during a recent visit to Ayrshire College.

He met with business students to discuss the variety of opportunities available in the industry, as well as career pathways available across various departments in the company.

These include opportunities such as traineeships, apprenticeships, and graduate programmes.

The trainee sales advisers will work on Persimmon developments in Ayrshire, where they will be supported through a training programme that will see them progress into permanent sales roles.

Mr Logan, who started his journey as a graduate planner, said: "I was delighted to visit Ayrshire College and meet with local students.

"The house building industry has a huge variety of exciting opportunities available and it was great to speak to students and staff about some of the career pathways that exist.

"As one of Ayrshire’s biggest homebuilders, our developments create a significant number of jobs and apprenticeship opportunities for local people and we’re proud to be supporting communities right across Ayrshire."

Sandra Ferguson, curriculum manager for Business, Computing, Travel and Tourism and Humanities, said: "Visits like these allow our students to see how the theory they have learned in class can be applied in the business environment.

“The students found the presentation interesting, having no previous knowledge of the housebuilding industry, and were impressed at how the business operates.

"They also enjoyed hearing about Chris' career journey, finding it motivational and inspiring, particularly as they could relate to someone who comes from Ayrshire.”
