Two members of the team at Ayr's Rainbow Room International have been shortlisted for the British Hairdressing Business Awards for 2024.

Riccardo Corvi has been nominated for the Franchisee of the Year award, while the salon's Rachael Macdonald is up for Salon Stylist of the Year.

Salon director Rachael is now poised for an in-depth interview with a panel of expert judges, before the winners will be revealed at the 25th British Hairdressing Business Awards, set to take place on Monday, July 1, at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel.

She said: "I cannot believe I have been nominated. The competition is incredible, including many of my idols, and I can’t double down on how much I’m totally blown away by being nominated.”

Reflecting on his nomination, Riccardo added: "I'm over the moon. I've poured my heart and soul into reaching this point in my career.

"Leading this business has been a journey of growth, fuelled by the collective effort of my amazing team.

"I'm immensely proud of what we've achieved together, not just for our business, but for our industry too."

Last year, the Advertiser reported how Rachael had been called in to lend her hairdressing expertise at the Malan Breton SS24 show, part of London Fashion Week, after undergoing training with Rainbow Room International's art team.

Just a month later the Ayr salon was back in the headlines when Ricardo was called upon to pass on his skills to Rainbow Room International's new 'young artistic team'.

Stylists from Rainbow Room International, which has salons across Scotland, made it to the finals in an impressive five categories at the award, organised by the industry publication, Hairdresser’s Journal.

The company's salon in Buchanan Street in Glasgow is shortlisted for Salon of the Year and Salon Team of the Year, while Laura Leigh Kerr from the Rainbow Room Academy is a finalist in the Educator of the Year category.

Jayne Lewis-Orr, executive director of the British Hairdressing Business Awards, said: "The awards celebrate the talented and passionate teams and individuals who contribute to the greatness of British hairdressing.

"Once again, our judging panel faced an outstanding group of candidates.

"To make the shortlist for these categories, nominees need to demonstrate a forward-thinking approach to running a salon, as well as the results and reputation to back it up.

"The Rainbow Room International team should feel incredibly proud to have achieved that alongside such impressive talent.”
