A POPULAR member of the Dundonald Highland Games committee is set to step down.
For the past 15 years Steven Easton has dedicated much of his free time to ensuring the success of the popular event.
The respected local businessman has carried out various roles during his time assisting with the games with this year set to be his eighth - and last - as treasurer.
Prior to this, he was the games' secretary for seven years though he has done so much more including being videographer throughout the pandemic, organising the poetry competition and at present he is digitising the games archives.
However, at the most recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the committee, he informed other members that he would be standing down in February 2025.
A committee spokesperson said: "Steven is a successful local businessman who we were fortunate he could devote some of his spare time to help the games and we are all very much appreciative of everything he has done over the years."
Now, the games team are looking for someone to come on board and fill the role as soon as possible - with hopes they can come in and "transition" while Steven completes his final year.
They added: "We are looking for a new treasurer to come on board ASAP so there is a transition period, this is a volunteer role for someone who has some sort of finance/book keeping back ground.
"Steven's record keeping has been excellent and is a great asset for the games and the new treasure to see how things have been done before."
Anyone interested in joining the committee to take on this role, or who knows anyone that maybe interested, and would like any more information is asked to contacted the Dundonald Highland Games Facebook page at facebook.com/DundonaldGames.
