A Symington man faces trial after denying charges of having child porn pictures.
Jack Marshall, 32, of Doon Place, denies taking or permitting to be taken indecent photos or pseudo images of children, which were allegedly found in his possession.
The Crown alleges that the images were created between October 2019 and January 2021.
He also faces three charges of failing to appear in court on agreed dates and a charge of possession of cannabis.
Ayr Sheriff Court heard that Marshall was maintaining his pleas of not guilty to all the charges on the Crown's indictment.
The presiding sheriff voiced concern about the lengthy wait for psychiatric reports in the case, branding it a "wholly unacceptable state of affairs".
Marshall's current defence lawyer said four other firms had been involved in the case before him and that Marshall had dismissed them all.
After some debate, a trial date for the case was set for July.
