A PRESTWICK sports apprentice has been hailed as a "rising star" by Tennis Scotland.
Teenager Dylan Galloway earned the recognition from the sport's governing body as they held their awards ceremony in Stirling.
The 18-year-old was granted the honour following a number of impressive achievements over the past calendar year.
The apprentice tennis coach has worked to an exceptional standard in his role at the Prestwick Tennis Centre and has worked with various tennis develop initiatives, including adult tennis, disability tennis and schools sessions, all while undertaking his coaching qualifications.
Dylan always has a pleasant and cheerful manner and has proved to be popular with staff and players alike at the South Ayrshire venue.
Speaking at the awards Dylan spoke of his shock at being named Tennis Scotland's rising star.
He said: “I was so surprised and delighted to win the award and want to thank Prestwick Tennis Centre for helping to me develop.
“I also need to mention my mum as she helped me get onto the Tennis Scotland
Apprenticeship programme.”
Tennis Scotland chief executive Blane Dodds hailed Dylan as a very worthy winner.
He said: “Congratulations to Dylan, who came up against tough competition but was a deserving winner in our Rising Star category at the Tennis Scotland Awards 2024.
“We want to offer our thanks to Dylan and all the individuals and organisations who work tirelessly to further the growth and development of tennis in Scotland.
“With an all-time high club membership, increasing participation and record entries at competitions, we have real momentum in Scottish tennis and, as we celebrate the many successes of 2023, we look forward to the rest of this year with huge confidence.
“Many of our Award winners now go ahead to the LTA British Awards later this year and we wish them all the best of luck.”
Dylan was one of 21 award winners across the evening which saw honours handed out to people from both the tennis and paddle tennis community.
