Police are investigating a break-in at an Ayr shop - with goods worth five figures nabbed by thieves.
Police were called to the Ayr Local store in High Street around 8am on Sunday morning, with the theft taking place overnight.
The shop was closed on Sunday to clean up the mess left, and reopened to customers on Monday morning.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.45am on Sunday, March 24, police received a report of a break-in to a shop on High Street, Ayr, which took place overnight.
"Enquiries have established that items were stolen from the shop with an estimated five-figure total value.
“An investigation into the matter is ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 0864 of 24 March, 2024.
"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
