AIRLINE Jet2 have revealed why several of their planes have been spotted at Prestwick Airport.
On Tuesday, March 5, the holiday company had six planes scheduled to arrive at the Ayrshire airport.
Ryanair is currently the only company flying regular scheduled passenger flights to and from Prestwick.
The Jet2 planes landed at the airport from various locations around the UK, including Manchester, Newcastle and Belfast.
Five journeys were also scheduled for Jet2 planes to head in the opposite direction.
But any Ayrshire holidaymakers tempted to get excited at the possibility of another airline joining Ryanair in operating passenger flights to and from the airport will be disappointed.
Jet2 were contacted to provide explanation for their planes' presence at the airport, and stated that the journeys were "training flights".
It is not expected that the aircrafts will be present at Prestwick beyond Tuesday.
