Who can you spot in these great photos from 20 years ago?
Former policeman Laurie Black was unveiled as park director at the Burns National Heritage Park in 2004. Although he began his working life as a bobby in London, Laurie was perhaps best known as the man behind Fouters Bistro in Ayr Sandgate. Laurie revealed that his biggest plan for the park was the building of a new £7 million museum behind Burns Cottage.

Senior citizens in Maybole had a great day in March 2004 when the local OAP Association organised its annual dinner and concert in the Town Hall. Members of Crosshill Guild, pictured with a variety of hats and costumes, were there to keep everyone entertained.

Tiger Woods was set to bring an entourage of eight people and to and take over TWO luxury South Ayrshire properties during the 2004 Open at Troon, the Advertiser revealed. The golfing superstar also booked a suite at Troon’s Marine Hotel as well as a number of rooms at another exclusive establishment within a 15-minute helicopter ride to keep people guessing about his whereabouts.

Auchincruive Floral Art Club handed over a cheque for £1,000 to the Ayrshire Hospice Care Home Nurses in March 2004. The big presentation took place at St Quivox Church Hall in Prestwick.

Ayr Hospital doctor Sharlene Butler was preparing to run the London Marathon in 2004. Sharlene, 24, from Cumnock, hoped to raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation as a fitting tribute for her brother Nathan, who died from congenital heart disease aged just 15. She is pictured with her occasional running companion Taz.
