ONE of Ayrshire's best known hotels and resorts has been awarded a five star rating by the Forbes Travel Guide.
Trump Turnberry is the only resort in the UK to receive the FTG’s Five-Star rating, which is a global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants, spas and ocean cruises.
Other Scottish hotels featured in this year’s guide include the Balmoral, which received five stars and the Gleneagles Hotel, which received four.
The Forbes Travel Guide inspector highlighted Trump Turnberry’s spectacular views, the King Robert the Bruce championship golf course, and the private spots around the hotel for reading and relaxing, in addition to the exceptional Scottish hospitality delivered by the resort team.
Afternoon tea in the Grand Tea Lounge and Bar was recommended as a must do, as was the ishga massage at the Spa at Turnberry, which overlooks Ailsa Craig and Arran.
Incognito inspectors pose as everyday guests and stay at hotels, board cruises, receive spa services and dine at fine restaurants around the world.
They test some 900 exacting standards, such as whether a room is designed to promote sleep quality or whether the food-and-beverage choices support a guest’s well-being.
Ralph Porciani, general manager of Trump Turnberry, said: “This prestigious recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to providing unparalleled luxury and an exceptional service to our guests.”
“The judging process is extremely rigorous, so we are beyond thrilled to be the only resort in the UK to receive this esteemed accolade.
"This serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team.
“We are dedicated to continually enhancing our resort and ensuring that every visit to Trump Turnberry is truly unforgettable and will continue to work to the highest standards to maintain our position as a premier destination for luxury and relaxation in the UK."
Marc Crothall, CEO of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, added: “Achieving this recognition and becoming the only Forbes Five-Star listed resort in the UK is not only great for all the team at Turnberry, but for Ayrshire and Scotland.
"It reflects the investment made in the hotel, the golf and leisure facilities and importantly, the entire team at Trump Turnberry, who have consistently delivered an exceptional Scottish hospitality experience."
