DRIVERS in Ayrshire are being warned of two weeks of overnight road closures - as well as daytime temporary traffic lights - on the A77.
Essential resurfacing work is taking place on the trunk road near Ayr, between the Bankfield and Holmston roundabouts.
The work will be undertaken using overnight road closures from 8pm to 6am from Monday, March 11 until Sunday, March 24.
The work will also involve daytime temporary traffic lights, with the potential for significant delays on the trunk road.
Road maintenance firm Amey, which looks after the A77 as part of its south-west Scotland trunk road management contract with the Scottish Government, said it thanked motorists in advance for their patience and co-operation.
The signed diversion will operate as follows:
Northbound traffic will exit the A77 at Bankfield Roundabout, taking the first exit onto the A713 Dalmellington Road and continuing onto Castlehill Road, before turning right at the double roundabout onto the A70 Holmston Road. From here, traffic will continue to Holmston Roundabout to re-join the A77.
Southbound traffic will exit the A77 at Holmston Roundabout then turn left onto Hillfoot Road, following to the roundabout to take the first exit onto the A713 Dalmellington Road, re-joining the A77 at Bankfield Roundabout.
Amey says the scheme will benefit around 34,000 vehicles using the route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for extensive maintenance in the future.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works, which may be cancelled or rescheduled in the event of bad weather.
