A POPULAR Prestwick takeaway is set to open in Ayr after planning permission was granted.
Jackie Jess had lodged proposals to relocate her Shaws takeaway from Shaw Road in Prestwick to New Road in Ayr.
The takeaway, which has now been given the green light by council planners, will take over the premises left vacant by the Braw Coo Butchers.
The menu will be similar to the current eatery, with all equipment moving between the two sites.
The proposed opening hours are listed as 7am to 3pm Monday to Saturday, with the business closed on Sundays.
The hot food takeaway is known for its sandwiches, rolls, wraps and salad boxes, as well as cooked breakfasts and other hot items.
The planning decision stated: "[The new location is in] an area with a mix of uses, with some noise-generating non-residential uses.
"It is noted there are several commercial uses to the north east of the site restaurants and hot food takeaways.
"The submission also outlines that the majority of food sold will be cold rather than hot.
"As such, it is considered that the proposed bakery and hot food takeaway shall not undermine the character and amenity or the health and wellbeing of the area."
