A man who smashed shop windows in Girvan on Christmas Day has been handed a community payback order.
Dale Jeffrey, 36, of Cherry Drive in Girvan, pleaded guilty to two charges when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, February 13.
He struck the window of Greggs and Hays Travel in Dalrymple Street, causing damage to both shop fronts.
Jeffrey handed himself in to officers at Girvan police station that same day, saying that he was "damaged" and "needed help".
Speaking in court, Jeffrey's solicitor told the court that his client was "lonely" and had "nowhere to be" on Christmas Day.
He was handed a 18 month supervised community payback order, and was told he must attend alcohol addiction services.
