A person was rescued from the water near Culzean Castle by helicopter after a multi-agency response on Thursday night.
Girvan lifeboat's volunteer crew raced to the scene at Croy Shore at the request of Police Scotland.
Emergency services received reports of a vulnerable casualty in the water just to the north of Culzean Castle.
Girvan Lifeboat headed along the coast to join up with on-shore assets as well as Coastguard rescue helicopter R199.
After a successful extrication of the casualty from the water by rescue teams. the helicopter landed on the shoreline and the person was later taken to hospital.
Girvan Lifeboat was then stood down along with other assets and made ready for the next service call.
A spokesperson said: "This was a successful multi-agency operation that resulted in a life saved.
"A testament to the high standard of training and collaboration of all the agencies involved. No further details will be made available in relation to this callout."
