Girvan has been voted into the finals of the UK DogFriendly Awards 2023 in the Town/City category.
Girvan joins Bury St Edmunds and Eastbourne in the top three dog friendly towns and cities in the UK as voted by the public.
This is the 11th year of the DogFriendly Awards which provide the public an opportunity to recognise and reward dog friendly places.
Girvan has long been popular with visiting dog owners thanks to its award-winning dog friendly beach and scenic walking trails.
However, the local tourism organisation, Go Girvan, wanted to go a step further to ensure furry visitors were made to feel extra welcome throughout the town during their stay.
Earlier this year they launched a new dog friendly initiative which has proved extremely popular.

A sticker scheme and dedicated webpage have been introduced to help visitors easily identify places where their dog can join them.
To date over 30 local businesses and attractions have signed up.
Susanne Arbuckle, project officer for Go Girvan, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Girvan has reached the award finals. The fact we have been voted there by the public makes it even more special.
"Considering the scheme was only launched this summer, this is amazing recognition of the work carried out so far to make Girvan a dog friendly destination."
The winning town with the highest number of votes will be announced on November 29 at an awards ceremony in the Kennel Club’s London Headquarters.
