Ayr Music Club's new season of 'Music in Ayr' concerts began on Saturday evening with a recital by the Fyrish String Quartet.
The programme began with a performance of Haydn's Sunrise Quartet. This was followed by "Two Movements for String Quartet" by the 20th-century composer Rebecca Clarke.
The first half of the concert ended with the traditional 'Dark Lochnagar', in an arrangement by Seonaid Aitken.

Then came The Sound of Sleepless Kings, composed by Emma Donald (violin) and expressing deeply felt emotions which the Quartet portrayed with intensity. The recital ended with two energetic Nordic folk songs.
