A vibrant new youth hub is on track to support young people across North Carrick after the keys to the building were handed over to its new owners.

The Carrick Centre received the keys to Goudies, the former restaurant and bar in Maybole, previously run by the Carrick Community Leisure Group, on Thursday, September 21.

The Carrick Centre stepped in to save the community asset for the area after it closed in November last year.

Plans are being co-produced with young people locally to turn the building into a dynamic youth hub for children and young people.

Chair of the Carrick Centre, Marguerite Hunter Blair, said: “We are thrilled and delighted to be receiving the keys to Goudies.

“We really look forward to delivering the services young people tell us they need in our community. We have also been speaking to funders and South Ayrshire Council who are keen to support the development of the Youth Hub.

"The management of the Hub will be supported by a youth board drawn from young people across North Carrick.

“Special thanks to Mark Fletcher and the CCLG for supporting a smooth transfer to the Carrick Centre.”

Over the summer and autumn, general manager of the Carrick Centre, Heather Stowe and her staff have been working with young people and schools and from the area.
