Ayrshire pupils have been awarded prizes for their participation in an "Odd Object" competition.

The competition, arranged by Troon Community Council, asks local kids to find an object in a shop that they do not normally sell e.g. a screwdriver in a hairdressers.

All the shops are listed alphabetical in their appropriate streets and there is a small map to assist with the locations.

This year's competition winners have been announced, with pupils receiving their prizes at Troon Library on Thursday, September 21.

The winners are:

  • Barassie Primary - Isla Bate, Heidi Cree, Khloe Benson
  • Muirhead - Ella Hillan, Ben Lilly, Mollie Martin
  • Struthers - Eve Muhindi, Halle McCall, Ruby Thom
  • St Patricks - Keira Parmer-Greaves, Emma McInnes, Abi Young
  • Troon Primary - Emma Clark, Ava Powell, Robbie Munro

Several winners from outside of the Ayrshire area, and who played via post, wer also announced:

  • Max McKell, Monkton
  • Eve Davis-McCrone, Kingcase
  • Callah Maffat, Symington
  • Megan Magee, Talbot, Leeds
  • Lewis Murra, Cross Arthurlee, Barrhead

George Mulveny, TCC Competition Organiser, 2023, said: "A big thank you on behalf of Troon Community Council to all the young folk who entered the competition.

"Well done to the winners, picked at random from the correct entries. Each winner receives a £10 voucher from TCC which can be spent in any of the shops/businesses who took part.

"Our grateful thanks as always, to the shopkeepers of Troon who continue to support TCC in this competition."
