New Ayr artwork has been revealed to celebrate Scottish Housing Day.

Ayrshire Housing recently unveiled the dramatic new murals at its Ayr office.

Amongst the images are the wreck of the puffer Kaffir, the Newton junction shunter, the Blackthorn saltworks, old signage and tramway badges and much more.

Ayr Advertiser:

Director Jim Whiston said: “We inherited a striking gable-end mural when we bought a neighbouring pub. We’ve transformed this into a much-improved reception and a community space, The Local.

“The mural had been created by Amy Whiten and Alistair Wyllie of Recoat Design. We invited them back to both refresh the gable and to create new artwork along the length of our building. They worked with the local tenants’ association in the selection of the images that form the new collages.

Ayr Advertiser:

“In The Local, we’re delighted to bring a new public facility to a still busy shopping street, combining this with such striking and talked about imagery.”
