A DRUNK driver from Drongan has been banned from the roads after being caught behind the wheel almost five times over the legal limit.
Gary Carmichael, 51, was caught out on August 11 of this year at the McDonald's restaurant at the Bellfield Interchange in Kilmarnock.
He was sentenced at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on September 7 after pleading guilty to a single charge of drink driving.
Carmichael, whose address was listed as Pettoch Farm in Drongan, had supplied a breath sample to police officers with a reading of 102 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
The legal limit in Scotland is 22 microgrammes.
Carmichael was fined £420 and banned from holding or obtaining a licence for 12 months - the minimum allowed under the drink-driving provisions of the Road Traffic Act.
