A new free parking scheme for Ayr town centre has been launched.
Ayr MSP, Siobhian Brown, announced the new measure that has come into force, in a bid to draw more people into the town.
The new scheme will allow drivers to park in on-street car park spaces operated by Ayrshire Roads Alliance on behalf of South Ayrshire Council.
Car parks in the town are not included as part of the new initiative.
Drivers can park their cars in a pay and display car park, print off a ticket at a nearby machine using their registration plate, and enjoy two hours of free parking per day.
The free parking ends after two hours have elapsed, and if you wish to park anywhere else on the same day then you will have to pay the standard rate, thereafter.
Posters will be placed around the town with more information about the new scheme.
🚘 Free on-street parking launched in Ayr Town Centre. 🎟️ Please note you still need a ticket and conditions apply as per the poster. Please check at the machine. 🛑 You will still need to pay in car parks!
