The list of winners at this year's Ayr and District Flower Show has been published.

The recent event was held at Ayr Racecourse over the course of the weekend, with Ayr residents and visitors all flocking to see the area's biggest and bestflower exhibitors.

Organisers confirmed the annual event saw an increase in participants and visitors from last year.

Irene Yuill, Ayr and District Flower Show secretary, said: "The traders, both inside and out, seemed to be well supported by the public and many are already asking to return next year.

"We hope we managed to provide something for everyone to enjoy.

"We must say a big thank you to all the volunteers who were on hand to sell programs, collect tickets and generally steward the show ground and marquees.

"To Ayr Racecourse for the venue and manpower to set the show up and all the unseen workers who made the show a success.

"We have received lots of lovely comments through face book, questionnaires and in person, all of which are appreciated by the hard-working committee.

"Even negative comments are beneficial as they show us where we need to improve things for next year.

"If you want to be more involved we are looking for new committee members and volunteers to keep the show running."
