A MAN has been arrested and charged following a "serious sexual assault" in Turnberry.
The alleged incident took place on Friday, June 23, in the Maidens Road area of the village.
Police say that the alleged offence took place at around 9pm that night "at a premises" on the street.
A man, aged 32, was arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault which police say involved a 22-year-old woman.
He has since appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court, and is due to return to court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious sexual assault involving a 22-year-old woman at a premises in the Maidens Road area of Turnberry.
“The incident happened around 9pm on Friday, 23 June.
“The man was due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, June 26, 2023.”
