Roadwork amendments and an extra day's closure have been added to upcoming A78 maintenance.
Last week the Advertiser confirmed that Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A78 near Prestwick Airport from Thursday, August 10 until Wednesday, August 16.
This work will involve overnight closures between 8pm and 6am each night, as well as daytime lane closures.
The work will be carried out using both daytime lane closures and six overnight closures of this section of carriageway, and a signed diversion will be in operation, with traffic management on the works between Monktonhead Roundabout and A77 Dutchhouse Roundabout will be removed by 6am on Wednesday, August 16.

The diversion was meant to operate as follows: Eastbound traffic will take the third exit at Monktonhead Roundabout to follow the A79 to the next roundabout, taking the first exit onto the B739 Station Road and Kilmarnock Road through Monkton to join the A77 at Dutchhouse Roundabout.
However following community feedback, the diversion route has been updated.
Traffic will be instructed to head south along the A79 through Prestwick before turning left onto the B743 Heathfield Road and following to Whitletts Roundabout to join the A77.
There will also be an additional overnight closure from 8pm on Wednesday, August 16 until 6am on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
