The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight has welcomed a new sponsor in the form of BAE Systems.
The company provides some of the world’s most advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions and has a long history in South Ayrshire through its site at Prestwick, with its rich heritage in the design, development and support of commercial aircraft.
More recently, the site has evolved as a centre of engineering excellence within BAE Systems’ Air Sector, and is now involved in aircraft such as Typhoon and the F-35 Lightning II.
BAE Systems is also playing a part in the recently launched FalconWorks™, a new centre for advanced and agile research and technology development.
Alan Wilson, head of engineering, BAE Systems Prestwick said: “BAE Systems is at the heart of the UK’s combat aircraft capability and many of the aircraft you’ll see in action at the International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight will have been designed, manufactured and are supported in service by BAE Systems.

South Ayrshire Council’s portfolio holder for sport and leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: “BAE Systems have a rich history in South Ayrshire, and their sponsorship demonstrates their commitment to fostering local talent and promoting the aerospace sector.
