Ayr Jazz Club have revealed that Ian Boyter's Joys of Swing will be playing at the Fairfield Hotel this Friday, July 21.
Members were delighted that a hastily re-arranged band, put together by the club chairman, rose to the occasion on their last well–supported jazz evening on June 30 at their regular venue of the Fairfield Hotel in Ayr.
The club are pleased to report that they can now revert to their original published programme when they welcome Joys Of Swing to town.
The band hail from the east coast of Scotland, based around the Edinburgh area, and are led by saxophonist Ian Boyter, who features regularly at The Edinburgh Jazz ‘n’ Jive Club.
Joining Ian will be Bill Jones on trombone, Mike Daly on cornet, Tommy Evans on string bass, Dave Watt on piano/vocals and Jack Wilson on drums.
The band play a mix of New Orleans, Dixieland, traditional and classic jazz and have been regular supporters of Ayr Jazz Club for many years.
This promises to be another great evening of jazz so why not come along and hear some great sounds from musicians who want to preserve their favourite music for future generations to enjoy and to support jazz clubs throughout the UK?
There has been significant interest shown from local people towards the club and visitors are always made most welcome.
To preserve live jazz music in Ayrshire the club's members have pledged do everything they can to promote and sustain jazz for the future.
They are hoping to see another good crowd at 7.30pm on Friday, July 21 at The Fairfield Hotel.
