DETAILS have been unveiled of a free bus service to help music fans get home from a major Ayrshire music festival this weekend.

Stagecoach have teamed up with the organisers of the Doonfest event in Dalrymple to ensure music fans can get home safely.

The free service - which must be booked in advance and is only available to festival ticket holders - will pick up revellers from Main Street in Dalrymple, close to the site entrance, and will drop them off in Ayr town centre.

The service will leave the departure point in Dalrymple on Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8.

Pre-booking is essential via doonfest.org/getting-to-doonfest, only those with valid tickets will be able to use the shuttle service and can be picked up on the day of arrival.

Fiona Doherty, managing director of Stagecoach West Scotland said: “We are excited to be part of Doonfest this year, our free shuttle service will ensure festival goers can get home safely to Ayr after the gig.

"We expect the shuttle to be extremely popular and encourage anyone wanting to secure a seat to book quickly via the Doonfest official website. We hope everyone has a fantastic time!”

The festival is organised by a small team of enthusiastic locals with support from other people in the community.

The headline acts at this year's event are Tom McGuire and the Brassholes on Friday and Manran on Saturday.

Other names on the bill include Pelikan Rouge, The Minogue Brothers and BloozinBoogie on Friday, and Craig Eddie (winner of the 2021 series of The Voice), Neil Angus, Memphis and Loca Watt on Saturday.

Daytime family fun begins at 12 noon on both days of the event with the musical entertainment getting under way at 6pm.
