A keen Ayr walker is taking on a mega-walk spanning the entirety of the UK all in the name of charity.
Project manager Yvonne Holland, who lives in Ayr, is nearly a month into her charity walking challenge from John O’Groats to Land’s End.
It is a mammoth walking challenge, known as the ‘JOGLE’, she has always dreamt of completing, and is doing it all for charity Christian Aid.
Yvonne is aiming to raise a total of £2,000 and as of this article's publication, she currently sits at £1,467.
The 58-year-old is averaging about 12 miles a day and has just completed the West Highland Way as she heads south, eventually hoping to reach Land’s End in Cornwall at the end of August.
Yvonne said: “I’m a keen walker and love adventures. In the past I’ve walked the Arctic Circle Trail in Greenland unaided and across the Pyrenees.
"My long-distance JOGLE challenge to Cornwall is going well so far and what I’m really enjoying on this journey is the fabulous weather we’ve been having and soaking up the scenery and seeing parts of Scotland I’ve never seen before.

"Taking life at a steady walking pace and seeing the things, especially nature, you might miss on a car journey is a real blessing.”
Originally Yvonne thought it was a long-distance walk she would tackle during retirement, but a type-2 diabetes diagnosis prompted her to reconsider timings.
She is taking a short career break from her project management role in the education construction sector, to complete the challenge while she’s physically strong enough to do it.
As well as completing a lifetime’s ambition she’s raising money for three different charities, including international development charity Christian Aid.
Head of Christian Aid Scotland Val Brown said she’s inspired by Yvonne’s walking adventure and explained: “Walking the length of Scotland and England is a really tough challenge but it’s clear Yvonne is hugely determined and enjoying the journey of a lifetime.
"We’re delighted that Christian Aid, which works to eradicate extreme poverty, is one of the charities she has chosen to raise money for.
"We look forward to hearing further updates from Yvonne as she continues her journey south.”
Yvonne can be sponsored via Just Giving.
