The current phase of pavement improvements in Coylton is due to draw to a close by the end of this month, but that won't be the end of the work.
Work to enhance footpaths on a stretch of road of Coylton began back in February as part of Ayrshire Roads Alliance works.
The busy A70 road from Cumnock to Ayr is halted half-way by temporary lights for the work to be carried out in Coylton.
Phase one of the work is due to come to an end on April 28, dependant on weather conditions.
However, it won't be the last of the works, with motorists expected to encounter at least one more phase of improvement works before the project is finished.
No concrete date has been set for the next stage of the work.
Kevin Braidwood, Head of Roads, Ayrshire Roads Alliance said: "The footway improvement works currently being carried out adjacent to the A70 in Coylton commenced on 6 February 2023.
"Phase 1 of these works is expected to be completed by 28 April 2023, however this timescale is weather dependent."
