Two South Ayrshire MSPs have been selected as part of Humza Yousaf's new ministerial team.
New First Minister Humza Yousaf vowed there “could not be more unity” in the SNP as he unveiled his first cabinet - which he said was the “biggest reshuffle” since 2007.
His new cabinet of 10 will be supported by 18 junior ministers.
As part of the new team, Mr Yousaf has appointed Ayr MSP Siobhian Brown to the role of minister for victims and community safety, working under cabinet secretary for justice and home affairs Angela Constance.
Ms Brown had previously voiced her backing for Kate Forbes to become the new First Minister.
She said: "I am honoured to accept an offer from the First Minister to join the Scottish Government as minister for victims and community safety.
"I understand the critical importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of our community.
I am fully committed to upholding the highest standards of public service, and I pledge to work tirelessly to address the needs and concerns of victims of crime and their families.
"I am grateful and humbled for the opportunity to serve the people of Scotland in this capacity and I look forward to working closely with all stakeholders and my colleagues in the Scottish Government to advance our shared goals of creating a safe and just society for all."
Elsewhere, the new First Minister also selected Carrick, Cumnock & Doon Valley MSP, Elena Whitham to take up the role of minister for drugs and alcohol policy, reporting directly to the First Minister.
The role was created by Nicola Sturgeon in 2020 and had previously been occupied by Ms Constance.
Ms Whitham had previously worked as community safety minister under Nicola Sturgeon.
The Carrick, Cumnock & Doon Valley MSP had backed Mr Yousaf in the leadership campaign.
Ms Whitham said: "Honoured to be appointed as minister for drug and alcohol policy by FM Humza Yousaf.
"Having direct worked experience supporting people dealing with addictions and trauma and being a family member, this is an area that has my absolute committment."
