A MAN was hospitalised after a serious crash that closed part of a key road linking Ayrshire with Glasgow for six hours.
The incident, involving one vehicle, took place at around 9.20am yesterday (Tuesday, March 14), when a blue BMW 320 collided with a wall on the A77 near to J6 Fenwick.
The 48-year-old male driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed for a period of six hours while investigations were carried out.
Officers are now appealing to any witnesses in the area with information to come forward.
Sergeant Stewart Taylor from Irvine road policing unit said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
“In particular, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist, please get in touch.
“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0698 of March 14, 2023.”
