SERVICE improvements have been announced on a number of Ayrshire bus routes.

It comes as bus operators Stagecoach announced a number of timetable changes due to come into effect from Sunday, March 5.

However, the changes do not include improvement or reinstatement of express services between North Ayrshire and Glasgow.

Service 2, connecting Ayr and Prestwick, will operate every 20 minutes - rather than every half hour.

The same change will apply to service 6 between Ayr and Marchburn.

In Irvine, two routes - service 22 (Castlepark-Perceton) and service 28 (Bourtreehill-Tesco) will run every 15 minutes rather than every 20 as at present.

In addition, service 23 (Hunter Drive-Broomlands) will increase from every half hour to every 20 minutes.

One of Ayrshire's busiest routes, the service 11 between Kilmarnock and Ardrossan, will also be improved to operate every 12 minutes during the day from Monday-Saturday, also from March 5.

Services are, however, always subject to change - for the most up to date information - always check the Stagecoach website.
