A Prestwick Airport employee, believed to be from Ayr, has died following a "fall" at work.
A probe has been launched into the incident, which took place at around 12.10pm on Wednesday, January 11.
Cops confirmed the 59-year-old worker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sources close to the incident told the Advertiser the man fell from a height when working to pack a cargo plane.
A spokesperson for Glasgow Prestwick Airport confirmed the tragic incident and said colleagues were "devastated".
They said: “Glasgow Prestwick Airport can confirm that an employee died following an incident on site on Wednesday 11 January.
“Everyone at the airport is devastated and our thoughts are with the employee’s family and friends at this extremely sad time.
“We are working closely with the relevant authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
The airport has been owned by the Scottish Government since 2013.
